Natalie Portman drops vegan diet during pregnancy - ABC News

Oscar award-winning actress Natalie Portman, who is pregnant with her first child, dropped their pattern.

"Actually, I went back to vegetarian wanted when I was pregnant, only because I felt me like me the stuff to," Portman said radio Q100 "Bert Show" today. "I heard my body to have eggs and dairy products."

Portman, who launched, said the strict diet to a vegan shoe line in 2008 in the life which prohibits products of animal origin, from meat, honey, desire its tribute called sweets when she started.

"If you not eggs food, then you can not cookies or cakes from regular bakeries, which can be a problem if this is everything you want to eat," she said. "I actually wanted eggs at the beginning and then extrapolated they me out after a while."

Dr. Marjorie Greenfield, Chief of obstetrics and Gynecology at the University hospitals case Medical Center in Cleveland, said, it is common that women to change make during pregnancy.

"Many people, I think, listen to you their bodies and not vegan, vegetarian, if they are pregnant" greenfield said. "Some people can only think they get not enough and have to say the smarts, ' my body is telling me something and my baby is important."

Greenfield said she glad that Portman the message is sent.

"In General listen to your body is important," she said. "Not feeling a character it is can be something you should do differently."

And while a pregnancy is possible healthy vegan, it is difficult.

"I know there are people, the vegan remain," said Portman Q100, "but I think you need to be careful only, see your iron level and your B12 levels and match if there are things you in your diet may be low."

Often have vegan supplements, such as iron and vitamin B12.

The biggest challenge for vegan mothers to be, the proper way is getting of protein and enough.

"There are certain essential amino acids that your body can make this whole proteins." She said combine to your vegetable protein, "Greenfield."

During pregnancy the Centers for disease control and prevention recommends six to 11 servings of grain products, three to five servings of vegetables, two to four servings of fruit, four to six servings of milk and milk products, and three to four servings of meat and protein foods every day.

"If you none standard diet food, the take home message learn about where the gaps could be and how you can fill them in a healthy way of life," said Greenfield.
