Why Infants Can Stress

POSTED BY Unknown on Tuesday, October 26, 2010

Baby desperately needed touch of a mother's affection. If the mother was overwhelmed with stress, the baby could come to feel stress.
A Canadian study revealed that babies who have lost the attention of the mother will feel anxious. Stress on the baby's condition could this have happened since the new baby is born until the age of 6 months, and mostly due to not getting proper attention from parents. Babies who feel lost love of his mother during the two minutes it will feel anxious, as quoted from page Dailymail.
Researchers found that levels of stress hormone, cortisol rebound when babies abandoned by their mothers, and even the next day, they may feel worried the same thing happen again.
Child development experts say, repeated episodes of stress can have a major impact on the health of children in the future growth.
To investigate whether the six-month-old baby is able to anticipate problems, Canadian researchers invited 30 mothers and their babies to the research center. Mothers and children are divided into two groups.
In the first group, infants placed in car seats and mother play and talk with them as usual. The drama was then interspersed with periods of two minutes when the mother just stared at her son's head, keeping her face free of emotion.
The next day, she brought her son back to the research center. Cortisol level was measured several times on both days. Total cortisol increased when the babies were ignored. Even the next day.
The second group, the baby's mother did the same, but without neglecting any time, and their stress hormone levels hardly changed.
Researcher Dr David Haley, of the University of Toronto, said, "This research shows, human infants have the capacity to produce anticipatory stress response that is based on expectations about the way parents treat them in certain contexts."
Professor Jay Belsky, of Birbeck College, University of London, said, factors such as depression can affect a mother's relationship with her baby, and increased cortisol levels from time and time again. This condition should not be ignored, because if it lasts a long time to reduce the baby's immune system.
