Planning ASI Since Gestation

POSTED BY Unknown on Friday, October 29, 2010

Mother's decision to work for six months exclusive breastfeeding and continued up to two years of preparation and planning needs. From the time of pregnancy, the mother had to prepare a plan to provide breast milk.

Nursing Mothers Association of Indonesia (AIMI) explains, milk production in small quantities-called colostrum-occur in the second trimester of pregnancy (from week 16 to 22). The number of breast milk is still a bit during pregnancy until the time of delivery. Or more specifically, the amount of milk remained low until the placenta is expelled. During this period the body no longer produces the pregnancy hormones such as progesterone. Progesterone levels decreased because it no longer produced by the placenta. Well, you can begin to increase milk production after going through pregnancy and childbirth. Milk more abundant around 48-72 hours after delivery.

Planning in the context of breastfeeding since the time of pregnancy, the mother worked more prepared for this lactation. Here are some preparations that need to be considered by pregnant women.

Maternity leave
Make planning maternity leave with longer portion when the baby is born. That is, not what if it still worked when I was nine months pregnant. But ask leave of absence longer postpartum. Because at this time that mother and baby can strengthen the attachment (bonding). As described earlier, postpartum milk production began to increase. By taking leave postpartum, mothers work helped increase the supply of milk.

Tell your office or supervisor
Plan to continue to provide breast milk during work needs to be notified to the office or supervisor. Fortunately for you who work in companies that provide special room breast feeding or milking. If any office does not provide this facility, you should ask the room what could be loaned to express breast milk.

Support group
Working mothers need support and motivation to consistently lead his plan to give exclusive breastfeeding. Look for an organization or a support group of mothers breastfed (KP ASI), and ask for support of colleagues or your boss's office. If you need to ask for union support for your decision to continue to provide breast milk when it is back to work.

Learn flushed milk
Expressing milk can be done with the help of manual or electric pump, or traditionally by hand. Learn all the ways to pump breast milk. The goal is that you do not rely on one method alone. So if you forget to bring a pump, not necessarily void milking breast milk. Because so decided to keep working mothers will breast-feeding, it takes discipline and consistency to milked while in office.

Believe me there is always a choice
Begin to consider the various options that exist for working mothers. For example, working part time, work from home, round-trip to breastfeed, or the baby is delivered to the office. Various options can be discussed with the company or your employer. To convince ourselves in doing this, restore your mind to the principle that human milk is right for babies and mothers to work. Make a number of state regulations or international conventions as the foundation of his thinking.

One of them, the Joint Decree issued by the Minister of Country of Women's Empowerment (48/Men.PP), Minister of Manpower and Transmigration (27/Menakertrans), and the Minister of Health (1177/Menkes) in 2008. LCS provides an opportunity for working women to provide breast milk or milking during work time, and store expressed milk to give to her child.

ASI six-month commitment
Establish your commitment to continue to give milk to your baby despite having to return to work. Minimal give exclusive breastfeeding for six months according to WHO recommendations through UNICEF. The success of breastfeeding to the baby depends on the commitment and consistency, which also requires the support of various parties.
